Abstract
We develop a self-consistent cranking formalism based on the interacti ng boson model intrinsic wave function. Explicit formulae are obtained for the energies and moments of inertia of the ground-state rotationa l band as a power expansion in the rotational frequency. The results c ompare well with the exact diagonalization of the hamiltonian in diffe rent transitional regions obtained by breaking the SU(3) dynamical sym metry.
