The experimental two-proton correlation functions measured in Ar-36 Sc-45, at 80 MeV/nucleon have been compared with predictions of a new
three-body quantum model which includes the Coulomb interaction of the
particles with their emitter. For a realistic charge of the source, i
ts Coulomb field strongly influences the shape of the correlation func
tion leading to a significant reduction of the source radius deduced i
n the two-body approximation. The differences in the shape of the corr
elation function observed between the data and theoretical results hig
hlight the limits of a static picture of the source and the importance
of dynamical correlations.
