Ww. Yew et al., ORAL FLUCONAZOLE IN THE TREATMENT OF PULMONARY CRYPTOCOCCOSIS IN NON-AIDS PATIENTS, Drugs under experimental and clinical research, 22(1), 1996, pp. 25-28
Four non-AiDS patients with pulmonary cryptococcus infection who could
not tolerate amphotericin B treatment were given oral fluconazole at
a dose oi 600mg once daily for 4-5 weeks followed by 400mg once daily
for 10-12 weeks resulting in cure. Aii patients did not have relapse o
i disease when followed-up for 8-24 months alter cessation oi treatmen
t. The very good tolerance of oral fluconazole by these patients sugge
sts that such effective monotherapy should be evaluated further in non
-AiDS patients with pulmonary cryptococcosis.
