Dh. Harryvan et al., CHARACTERIZATION OF THE MAGNETOOPTICAL PROPERTIES OF EOSIN-Y AND ERYTHROSIN, Chemical physics letters, 257(1-2), 1996, pp. 190-196
We report the results of a study of the properties of the paramagnetic
triplet state of eosin Y and erythrosin. This information is a prereq
uisite for their use as EPR probes. The magnetic anisotropy in both mo
lecules is found to be suitable for monitoring slow rotational dynamic
s, Interestingly, the magnetic interactions in eosin show a large anis
otropy in the x-y plane (E is roughly equal to D/3) of the Magnetic fr
ame. Erythrosin on the other hand, has a virtually isotropic interacti
on in that plane (E small compared to D/3).
