Abstract
The structure of 1,3-adamantanedicarboxylic acid (tricyclo[3.3.1.1(3'7 )]decane-1,3-dicarboxylic acid), C12H16O4, consists of hydrogen-bonded chains of molecules related by a glide plane. In 1,3-adamantanediacet ic acid (tricyclo[3.3.1.1(3,7)]decane-1,3-diacetic acid), C14H20O4, tb e asymmetric unit comprises two hydrogen-bonded molecules and these bi molecular units are in turn linked by hydrogen bends across centres of inversion to give chains.
