M. Zhouberbon et al., A SIMPLE TECHNIQUE FOR THE PREPARATION OF TENSILE SPECIMENS OF YTTRIA-STABILIZED ZIRCONIA, Materials letters, 27(4-5), 1996, pp. 211-214
It is now well established that, at least over a limited range of expe
rimental conditions, polycrystalline yttria-stabilized zirconia (Y-TZP
) is capable of exhibiting high ductility when pulled in tension. This
paper describes a simple procedure, based on isostatic pressing and t
wo-step sintering, for the preparation of fully-dense sub-micrometer s
pecimens of Y-TZP which are suitable for superplastic experiments. Ten
sile testing demonstrates that these specimens posses good superplasti
c properties.
