Dt. Vo et al., VERY WEAK GAMMA-TRANSITIONS IN THE EPSILON BETA(+) DECAY OF GA-68 - REPLY/, Physical review. C. Nuclear physics, 54(1), 1996, pp. 441-442
Using the spectra in the article ''Very weak gamma transitions in the
epsilon/beta(+) decay of 68 Ga'' [D. T. Vo et at. Phys. Rev. C 50, 171
3 (1994)], Skalsey makes an interesting speculation in the accompanyin
g article [M. Skalsey, Phys. Rev. C 54, 439 (1996), the preceding pape
r] on the possible existence of a positron feeding with a kinetic endp
oint energy of 16 keV in the decay of Ga-68 Skalsey also points out th
e facts supporting the e(+) feeding to the 1656-keV level that were no
t mentioned by Vo et al. In this Reply to the Comment, we present info
rmation supporting the new e(+) decay to the 1656-keV level and furthe
r information on the statistical uncertainties that suggest an even gr
eater skepticism than that shown by Skalsey about the possible existen
ce of the 16-keV e(+) decay to the 1883-keV level upon which he commen
ted.
