Abstract
Structural data on the Ca2+-ATPase of sarcoplasmic reticulum are integ rated with kinetic data on Ca2+ transport. The emphasis is upon ATPase -ATPase interactions, the requirement for phospholipids, and the mecha nism of Ca2+ translocation. The possible role of cytoplasmic [Ca2+] in the regulation of the synthesis of Ca2+-ATPase is discussed.
