Ja. Davis et Cd. Buxton, LARVAL DEVELOPMENT OF LABORATORY-REARED CARPENTER, ARGYROZONA-ARGYROZONA (PISCES, SPARIDAE), South African journal of zoology, 31(1), 1996, pp. 10-14
The larval development of the sparid Argyrozona argyrozona is describe
d and illustrated from 16 individuals, representative of a batch reare
d in the laboratory from artificially spawned eggs. A general account
of development is given as well as detailed descriptions of pigmentati
on, fin development, head spination, myomere counts and morphometrics.
The general developmental pattern is similar to other sparids but is
unique in regard to preopercular spination, premaxillary and medic-lat
eral pigmentation and morphometrics.
