SYNTHESES OF 1,5-BENZOTHIAZEPINES .14. SYNTHESES OF DIMETHYLAMINOPHENYL)-4-PHENYL-1,5-BENZOTHIAZEPINES AND ,5-DIHYDRO-4(4-METHOXYPHENYL)-1,5-BENZOTHIAZEPINES

The chalcones, p-dimethylamino-benzalacetophenone (2a) or 2-chlorobenz al-4-methoxyacetophenone (2b) have been reacted with 5-substituted-2-a minobenzenethiols, the substituents being Cl, Br, CH3 and OCH3 in mild er reaction conditions to obtain imethylaminophenyl)-4-phenyl-1,5-benz othiazepines] and 8-substituted-2-(2-chlorophenyl)-2, 5-dihydro-4-(4-m ethoxyphenyl)-1,5-benzothiazepines in nearly 40-50% yields. The struct ures of the title compounds have. been assigned on the basis of their microanalytical, IR, H-1 NMR and mass spectral data.
