P. Mcgrane et al., EVALUATION OF DELVOTEST SP AND CHARM AIM-96 FOR THE DETECTION OF A RANGE OF ANTIBIOTICS IN MILK, Milchwissenschaft, 51(6), 1996, pp. 330-332
The performance of Delvotest SP and Charm AIM-96 as screening assays w
as evaluated using a range of antibiotics in milk viz. cloxacillin, su
lphamethazine, tetracycline, chloramphenicol and streptomycin using co
ncentrations which included the MRL for each respective antibiotic. De
lvotest SP was better than Charm AIM-96 at detecting cloxacillin and s
ulphamethazine. Both assays performed poorly with tetracycline with le
ss than a 50% chance of detection at the MRL (100 ppb) in both cases.
Charm AIM-96 was also unable to detect chloramphenicol and streptomyci
n. Although Delvotest SP was unable to detect chloramphenicol, it was
able to detect streptomycin with a 21% chance of detection at all the
concentrations tested.
