D. Breuer et al., UPGRADING THE EMBEDDED STANDARD-FIBER NETWORK BY OPTICAL-PHASE CONJUGATION, IEE proceedings. Optoelectronics, 143(3), 1996, pp. 205-208
It has been demonstrated that signal distortions arising from the inte
rplay of linear dispersion and fibre nonlinearity can be annihilated c
ompletely in a system incorporating a midway optical-phase conjugator
by requiring perfect power symmetry and vanishing second-order dispers
ion. The authors present a detailed numerical analysis for upgrading t
he embedded standard single-mode fibre system to ultrahigh capacities
beyond 10 Gbit/s. It is shown that, as long as the fibre-input power i
s adjusted to the amplifier spacing according to simple formalism, a n
early data-rate-independent transmission over the anomalous-dispersive
standard fibre is achievable.
