Djw. Hardie et Ab. Gallaher, REVIEW OF NUMERICAL-METHODS FOR PREDICTING SONAR ARRAY PERFORMANCE, IEE proceedings. Radar, sonar and navigation, 143(3), 1996, pp. 196-203
Sonar systems are becoming increasingly more elaborate and complicated
as greater sensitivity and noise rejection are demanded. Consequently
modern sonars are expensive and difficult to construct. This is parti
cularly so for the actual acoustic array. The importance of providing
accurate performance prediction is obvious, The review considers numer
ical schemes for this task and assess their suitability for specific a
pplications. Particular attention to finite-element and boundary-eleme
nt methods is made. Methods suitable for active and passive arrays are
considered. Possible potential improvements in accuracy and computati
onal effort are discussed.
