Jf. Falquet, BETWEEN RUPTURE AND REPRODUCTION - SALVAD ORAN WOMEN IN THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR (1981-1992), Nouvelles questions feministes, 17(2), 1996, pp. 5-38
Jules-France Falquet: ''Between rupture and reproduction: salvadoran w
omen in the revolutionary war (1982-1992)''. One third of the Salvador
an guerrillas were women. Their participation in the revolutionary str
uggle was substantial, mainly in traditional fields (logistics, health
, communication), but also with weapons in their hands and, in the cas
e of a small minority, in leadership positions. Gender relations were
partially modified and women won, through hard straggle, their right t
o participate in public and political life. But, even in a revolutionn
ary process such as that of El Salvador, patriarchal logic dies hard.
With the end of the war, the fragility and ambiguity of the women's ga
ins become obvious.
