[eta(3)-Allyl-NiCl](2) reacts at -78 degrees C with 1-norLi (2) (I-nor
= 1-norbornyl = bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane-l-yl) to give the highly unstab
le eta(3)-allyl-Ni(1-nor) which decomposes rapidly under formation of
nickel. The phosphane complexes of nickel and palladium of the type et
a(3)-allyl-NiCl . PPh(3) (1) and eta(3)-allyl-PdCl . P(Cy)(3) (4) reac
t with 1-norLi to give the compounds eta(3)-allyl-Ni(l-nor). PPh(3) (3
) and eta(3)-allyl-Pd(1-nor). P(Cy)(3) (5) respectively, which were is
olated and characterized by H-1, C-13 and P-31 NMR.
