Abstract
The fast-atom bombardment (FAB) mass spectrometric behaviour of some p latinum (II) and platinum (I) dinuclear hydrides has been studied by m eans of metastable ion studies, For all the examined compounds, the lo ss of the moieties bridging the two platinum centres is always observe d, leading to structurally different product ions, Especially in tbe c ase of platinum (II) dinuclear hydrides, FAB mass spectra particularly rich in species in the range m/z 300-700 are obtained, generated by d ecomposition and rearrangement reactions.
