A. Rangel et al., PULMONARY VALVULAR STENOSIS ASSOCIATED WITH TAKAYASUS DISEASE - FAVORABLE RESPONSE TO CORTICOSTEROIDS - A CASE-REPORT, Angiology, 47(7), 1996, pp. 717-724
The authors describe the first reported case of type IV Takayasu's art
eritis with pulmonary valve stenosis. After thirty months under cortic
osteroid therapy the disappearance of the pulmonary valve stenosis sig
ns was observed in the patient. In the same patient coarctation of the
aorta, aortic insufficiency, stenosis of both pulmonary arteries, and
left coronary artery stenosis were observed. This case illustrates th
e extensive cardiovascular involvement that can occur in Takayasu's ar
teritis and suggests that pulmonary valvular stenosis could be seconda
ry to the same inflammatory process.
