CYCLIC VOLTAMMETRY AT GOLD SINGLE-CRYSTAL SURFACES .1. BEHAVIOR AT LOW-INDEX FACES

Typical cyclic voltammograms at the three low-index faces of gold are given and discussed comparatively. The influences of various experimen tal conditions or parameters, e.g. temperature, concentration and natu re of the electrolyte, ohmic potential drop, potential limits, etc. ar e described and related to the atomic surface structures. These findin gs are recommended as a starting point for further studies on these fa ces and for obtaining a more satisfactory intercomparison of results f rom one laboratory to another.
