Abstract
The effect of salinity and osmotic stress on protein synthesis was stu died in cowpea Rhizobium 4a. Osmotic component of salinity stress has been shown to induce ten proteins in a salt tolerant/ osmosensitive co wpea Rhizobium. 4a (groundnut isolate). Of these seven polypeptides we re induced only by salt/osmotic stress while two were induced by heat shock. The results demonstrate a commonality as well as stress specifi city of protein synthesis regulation.
