Purpose: Our goal was to determine the appearance of abdominal macrono
dular tuberculomas on MRI. Method: MR findings of two patients with ab
dominal macronodular tuberculoma, one of the liver and the other in th
e kidney, were reviewed. Results: These two tuberculomas, histological
ly confirmed to have no calcification, hemorrhaging, or fibrosis, comm
only showed low signal intensity on both T1- and T2-weighted images. C
onclusion: We report two cases of a macronodular tuberculoma in the li
ver and kidney, which is visualized as a region of hypointensity on T2
-weighted MR images. This finding appears to be important in reaching
a definitive diagnosis of an abdominal tuberculoma.
