Abstract
We report glancing-incidence x-ray scattering studies of the magnetic structure observed near the (001) surface of the antiferromagnet UO2. Within about 50 Angstrom of the surface, the magnetic scattering inten sity decreases continuously as the hulk Neel temperature is approached from below. This contrasts with the bulk transition, which is discont inuous.
