S. Nakabayashi et al., NONLINEAR IRON ELECTROCHEMICAL OSCILLATOR - COUPLING AND PHOTO EFFECTS, Journal of the Electrochemical Society, 143(7), 1996, pp. 2258-2262
The constant potential oxidation of iron in aqueous sulfuric acid solu
tion induces a self-sustained nonlinear oscillation of the current. He
re, two independently controlled iron electrodes become synchronized t
o each other as the distance between the electrodes is reduced. The te
mporal pattern of the synchronization is a function of the potential d
ifference between the electrodes. The oscillation frequency of the iro
n electrode can be changed by irradiation with visible light.
