A new mathematical model of the plastic deformation zones in the rolli
ng of theologically complex metals and alloys has been developed on th
e basis of the finite-element method. The rheological curves are consi
dered through hydrodynamic approximations. The model can be used for t
he calculation of the formation of knurling during cogging. The appear
ance of the knurl and the means of its prevention are modelled. The re
sults of the model are in good agreement with experimental findings.
