Abstract
Inelastic constitutive modelling is considered for the simulation of a high speed wirecoating process for polymer melts. Practical Trouton r atios are achieved, based on a combined shear and extensional viscosit y representation. We analyse and comment on the limitations of this pr agmatic modelling approach, that fits both steady shear and extensiona l viscosity data.
