A case of a 45-year-old man affected by androgenetic alopecia who rece
ived implantation of monacrylic hair fibers, and developed painful abs
cesses at the fiber implantation sites is presented. The surgical trea
tment was to place a U-shaped tissue expander bilaterally in the occip
ital and parietal area of the scalp. At the end of the expansion, thre
e flaps were fashioned and used to repair the area affected by the chr
onic infection.
