Abstract
A new method is proposed for designing pole-changing windings with a m inimum number of leads and make-and-break contacts for induction motor s intended for use in units with intense operating conditions (lift in stallations, elevators, agricultural machines). Investigations of the electromagnetic properties of the new pole-changing windings have been carried out, and industrial test results of motors with such windings a:re given. The advantages of motors with pole-changing windings over conventional motors with two separate windings are shown. (C) 1996 El sevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
