Abstract
This paper focuses on international strategic technology partnerships, and the choice that companies have in terms of the organizational mod e, either through complex inter-organizational modes involving equity- sharing, or contractual non-equity alliances, The empirical results sh ow that the choice of particular mode of cooperation varies with the t echnological characteristics of sectors of industry, Joint ventures ar e disproportionately represented in relatively mature industries, Cont ractual alliances dominate strategic technology partnering in so-calle d high-tech industries.
