Vp. Menushenkov et al., INTERACTION OF SM2FE17 WITH HYDROGEN AND NITROGEN AND MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES OF HYDRIDES AND NITRIDES FORMED IN THIS COMPOUND, Russian metallurgy. Metally, (1), 1996, pp. 62-66
This work is devoted to the study of magnetic properties and phase com
position of nitrides Sm2Fe17Nx synthesized by nitriding the Sm2Fe17 co
mpound powdered or obtained by hydride comminution. Interaction with h
ydrogen at room temperature and a pressure of 30 to 40 arm gives rise
to the formation of a hydride phase with the atomic hydrogen content u
p tea delta = 5 and the Curie point up to 280 degrees C. As a result o
f cyclic hydrogen treatment, powder with uniform granulometric composi
tion and active surface has been obtained. Nitriding of such powder at
60 atm and 450 - 550 degrees C proceeds with much higher rate than ni
triding of milled powder. In both cases the Sm2Fe17Nx (epsilon = 2.5-4
) nitride with T-c approximate to 480 degrees C is formed. Additional
hydrogenation results in the formation of hydrogen-containing nitride
of the Sm2Fe17NxH composition.
