Dj. Bicout et Mj. Field, RELAXATION DYNAMICS IN DYSONS MODEL FOR THE ORIGIN OF METABOLISM, Physical review. E, Statistical physics, plasmas, fluids, and related interdisciplinary topics, 54(1), 1996, pp. 726-736
This payer discusses some aspect of the dynamical evolution of the sys
tem described by Dyson's model for the origin of metabolism. First, th
e mean number of mutation events required to observe the origin of met
abolism in the model is calculated. This number can span a large range
depending upon the values of some critical parameters. Second, the dy
namics of the relaxation to equilibrium is investigated by computing t
he correlation function of an on-off random function that defines the
instantaneous state of the system. It was found that the dynamics of t
he system is well described by a double or a stretched exponential rel
axation.
