Abstract
The kinetics of the reaction between hydrogen peroxide and gold(III) i n a hydrochloric acid medium has been studied. The reaction is first o rder with respect to [Au-III] as well as [H2O2]. The reaction rate has an inverse dependence on [H+] and [Cl-]. AuCl4- AuCl3(OH2), and AuCl3 (OH)(-) are the reactive species of Au(III). A rate expression consist ent with the experimental findings has been proposed.
