Abstract
Recent results concerning the evolution on annealing of the microstruc ture and of some properties of two submicro-grained materials obtained by severe plasic deformation: pure nickel and the intermetallic compo und Ni3Al, are first presented. On the basis of these data, the publis hed results concerning pure metals, metallic alloys and intermetallic compounds are discussed in the second part of the paper. The common as pects and the distinctive characteristics of the thermal evolution of the different classes of materials are emphasized.
