Abstract
KL(2,3)L(2,3) spectator Auger transitions following S 1s and Cl 1s exc itations were studied for monolayered and multilayered molecules of CS 2 and SiCl4 on Cu(100). It is found that the spectator Auger peak shif ts to higher energy side linearly with incident photon energy. Further more both the spectator peak sharpening and the splitting of the Auger peak are clearly observed only for the multilayered samples. The resu lts obtained are explained in terms of both the Auger resonant Raman e ffect and the weak core-hole screening by conduction electrons of the substrate.
