Abstract
An overview of ion-pair formation in VUV photoexcitation of halogen-co ntaining molecules is presented demonstrating the importance of Rydber g state formation in these systems. Our results are highlighted by the specific examples of ion-pair formation in IBr, HCl, DCl and SiF4.
