Kf. Dunn et al., THE DISSOCIATIVE PHOTOIONIZATION OF H2O D2O BETWEEN 20 AND 40 EV/, Journal of electron spectroscopy and related phenomena, 79, 1996, pp. 475-478
The appearance thresholds and kinetic energy spectra of fragment proto
ns and deuterons produced in the dissociative photoionization of H2O a
nd D2O by 20-40 eV photons have been measured. Measurements were made
both along and at right angles to the E vector of the synchrotron radi
ation to isolate states of different symmetry. The results show the im
portant role of superexcited states in the ionization process and pred
issociation and autoionization pathways have been identified.
