Y. Tamenori et al., DISSOCIATIVE PHOTOIONIZATION OF HEXACARBONYL TUNGSTEN IN THE RANGE 30-120EV, Journal of electron spectroscopy and related phenomena, 79, 1996, pp. 503-506
Dissociative photoionization of W(CO)(6) has been studied in the photo
n energy range 38-130eV by use of time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectromet
ry and photoion-photoion coincidence (PIPICO) method combined with syn
chrotron radiation. From the TOF mass spectra, both the fragment ions
resulting from the loss of CO ligands only and those resulting from th
e CO loss and additional cleavage of C-O bond in the ligand are identi
fied. Doubly charged ions of both of these types are abundant above ab
out 40 eV. It has been found that the relative abundance of doubly cha
rged parent ions increases with increasing incident photon energy. On
the other hand the PIPICO measurements reveal the dissociation of trip
ly charged molecular ions into doubly and singly charged ion pairs, as
well as into three singly charged fragments.
