R. Roche et al., SPONTANEOUS DISSECTION OF THE CORONARY-AR TERIES - REPORT OF 2 NEW CASES WITH A FAVORABLE OUTCOME, Annales de cardiologie et d'angeiologie, 45(6), 1996, pp. 335-338
The authors report two new cases of spontaneous coronary dissection an
d discuss the real frequency of this disease as well as their generall
y reported poor prognosis. One case was a 32-year-old female migraine-
sufferer treated by beta-blockers, who developed a rudimentary anterio
r myocardial infarction. The other case was a 43-year-old man who pres
ented with a threatened anterior myocardial infarction without myolysi
s documented by cardiac enzymes. Both patients were smokers and both h
ad an excellent outcome, clinically and on stress tests, with a follow
-up on medical treatment alone of thirty months for the first case and
fourteen months for the second case. These two new cases had a good p
rognosis, in contrast with the majority of cases published.
