An apparatus for measuring both the angular distributions of particles
scattered at small angles and the energy loss spectra in the kilovolt
range of collision energy is described. This is achieved by applying
the time-of-flight method for measuring the collision energy losses to
gether with using a position-sensitive detector. The performance of th
e apparatus is demonstrated in a He-Ne system where the He atoms have
an energy of 2500 eV.
