Av. Batrakov et al., SOURCES OF PULSED LOW-ENERGY-ELECTRON BEAMS BASED ON THE EXPLOSIVE-EMISSION LIQUID-METAL CATHODES, Instruments and experimental techniques, 39(2), 1996, pp. 252-256
A pulsed electron source employing a liquid-metal cathode and operatin
g in the explosive electron-emission mode is described. The source ope
rates over a voltage range of 10 to 40 kV. The cathode operating frequ
ency reaches 1500 Hz. The source can be used both as a point emitter i
n various vacuum-tube devices and as an element of the multi-emitter s
ource with a large cross-sectional area of electron flux.
