Abstract
Published evidence justifying effectiveness and fairness of oral exami nations for licensure as a psychologist is sparse across jurisdictions that exercise the power to implement these examinations. This study u sed a variety of methodologies and design strategies, including genera lizability analyses, to identify extraneous sources of inconsistency i n the Texas oral examination on a sample of 104 candidates for psychol ogy licensure. Suggestions are provided for reducing inconsistency and for enhancing effectiveness and fairness of the oral examination.
