Since the widespread use of operating microscopes and artificial intra
ocular lenses in the early '80s, photoretinitis of the macula and para
macular area has been a well-documented clinical entity. A case is rep
orted of a unilateral paramacular chorioretinal phototrauma after cata
ract extraction and posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation. I
ndocyanine-green angiography (ICG-A) demonstrated the atrophy of the c
horiocapillaris, which was seen as a hypofluorescent area.
