Abstract
With their high prevalence of individuals with psychiatric disorders, nursing homes offer the psychiatrist the potential to function in a nu mber of capacities, Diagnostic and treatment advances guided, in part, by the Minimum Data Set and the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1987 (in the USA), can provide a vehicle to developing an outcomes-dri ven approach to improved care.
