P. Sanz et al., GLUCOSE REPRESSION MAY INVOLVE PROCESSES WITH DIFFERENT SUGAR KINASE REQUIREMENTS, Journal of bacteriology, 178(15), 1996, pp. 4721-4723
Adding glucose to Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells growing among nonferm
entable carbon sources leads to glucose repression. This process may b
e resolved into several steps. An early repression response requires a
ny one of the three glucose kinases present in S. cerevisiae (HXK1, HX
K2, or GLK1). A late response is only achieved when Hxk2p is present.
