P. Branny et al., THE GENES FOR PHOSPHOFRUCTOKINASE AND PYRUVATE-KINASE OF LACTOBACILLUS-DELBRUECKII SUBSP BULGARICUS CONSTITUTE AN OPERON, Journal of bacteriology, 178(15), 1996, pp. 4727-4730
In Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus, the pyk gene coding fo
r pyruvate kinase and the pfk gene coding for phosphofructokinase form
ed a bicistronic operon transcribed into a 2.9-kb RNA. The nucleotide
sequence of the pyk gene indicated that the encoded protein possessed
an extra C-terminal domain with a potential phosphoenolpyruvate-depend
ent autophosphorylation site.
