Abstract
One objective of the work discussed in this paper is to develop a mate rial with high snag resistance, where snagging is the glancing penetra tion of a composite sheet by sharp objects. The best material of those tested to date is a soft polyurethane sheet reinforced sparsely with a web of extruded polyurethane fiber. Stiff carbon fibers sparsely dis tributed also give good snagging resistance, but closely spaced stiff fibers do not perform well in the ASTM Standard test for snag resistan ce.
