K-ionization cross sections for Mo by electron impact were measured by
detecting the characteristic X-rays emitted by a thin solid film of k
nown thickness with a Si (Li) detector for incident energies between 2
1 and 40 keV. A correction for electrons reflected by the substrate wa
s performed using a bipartition model of electron transport. The exper
imental results agree reasonably with the calculations of Rudge and Sc
hwartz and the empirical formulas of Casnati et al. and Jakoby et al.
