Eight species are recognised in the second part of a revision of Carmi
chaelia. These are C. appressa, C. arborea, C. australis, C. hollowayi
, C. kirkii, C. odorata, C. petriei, and C. williamsii. Carmichaelia a
rborea is the earliest name for plants previously known as C. grandifl
ora. Carmichaelia odorata includes C. angustata and C. glabrata in syn
onymy, and C. australis is the earliest name for the widespread shrubb
y broom which previous authors have segregated into numerous species,
including C. aligera, C. flagelliformis, C. ovata, and C. robusta. Syn
onymy, descriptions, distribution maps, habitats, variation, and illus
trations are presented. Conservation status is discussed for C. appres
sa, C. hollowayi, C. kirkii, and C. williamsii.
