Gan. Mbamalu et al., A COMPARISON OF PROBABILISTIC POWER-FLOW WITH DETERMINISTIC BASED SOLUTIONS, Electric machines and power systems, 24(5), 1996, pp. 511-520
A probabilistic formulation of power flow problem in which the number
of equations is less than the number of the unknowns is discussed. The
structure of the traditional Jacobian matrix encountered in conventio
nal power flow is altered, and the resulting problem is one of a minim
al least squares. A minimization technique using Crout's factorization
and the Newton's method of successive approximation are proposed to o
btain solutions. The probabilistic algorithm is applied to IEEE 14 and
37 bus systems, and computational results were obtained. The probabil
istic power flow results are compared with a deterministic based stoch
astic power flow solution for the 14 bus test system. The probabilisti
c approach produces better results in terms of accuracy and computatio
nal time when compared with the corresponding deterministic based solu
tions.
