DIELECTRIC-PROPERTIES AND ELECTRICAL-CONDUCTIVITY STUDIES ON SOME MINERALS

Measurement of dielectric constant and loss have been earned out on co rundum, topas, opal and talc as a function of frequency and temperatur e. The frequencies range from 100 Hz to 106 kHz in the temperature ran ge of room temperature to 400 degrees C. The room temperature measurem ent was extended to cover the range of frequencies up to 10 MHz. The c onductivity measurements have also been carried out up to a temperatur e of 400 degrees C. The results of the measurements and the ac conduct ivity obtained from the dielectric constant and loss are discussed in the light of chemical analysis.
