Abstract
The effect of a NiO intermediary layer on the electrochemical performa nces of the RuO2 coated cathodes has been studied. All the oxidic laye rs have been prepared by thermal oxidation in air stream. The thick Ni O layers, characterized by X-ray measurements lead to a decrease of th e electrochemical activity. On the contrary, a thin NiO intermediary l ayer results in an enhancement of the active area of the electrodes. T he impedance measurements showed a semiconducting character of the NiO layers.
