O. Radovici et E. Vasilescu, THE BEHAVIOR OF TI AND OF SOME TI-MO-AL ALLOYS IN OXALIC-ACID AND CONCENTRATED CHLORIDES SOLUTIONS, Revue Roumaine de Chimie, 41(1-2), 1996, pp. 55-62
This paper attempts to survey the anodic film formation and stability
of Ti and two Ti-Mo-Al alloys in some aqueous concentrated solutions o
f oxalic acid (10 wt %) and halogenides (30 wt % AlCl3.6H(2)O and 40 w
t % LiCl). It is presented a mechanism of dissolution - passivation an
d the effect of the alloying elements on the anodic behaviour of Ti an
d Ti-Mo-Al alloys taking into account the anodic polarization curves.
Also, it is described a reaction mechanism of Ti and Ti-Mo-Al alloys i
n concentrated chlorides. We have, in particular, specified the role o
f hydrolysis of TiCl4 and of chemisorbed chloride ions complex on the
mechanism of formation and stability of the passive film.
